Santuario de Ntra. Sra. de ReglaEl Santuario de Ntra. Sra. de Regla is a monastery of neo gothic style. Its origin was being a Castle-Fortress, property of the “Ponce de León”, who donated it to the hermits of San Agustín in 1399, then the building converted and became a church.

The lighthouse The Chipiona Lighthouse is the highest in Spain, the third highest in Europe and the fifth highest in the world, with 72 meters above sea level and 69 meters above the ground with a total of 344 steps. It was built on the “Punta del Perro” to indicate the entrance of the river Guadalquivir. Work of the Catalonian engineer Jaime Font, and finalized in 1867.

El HumilladeroThis is a side building to Santuario de Ntra. Señora de Regla and dated back to 1663.
Sanatorium Santa Clara The first maritime sanatorium in Spain, present Residential San Carlos for children.
The Castle Its origin, according to the Provincial delegation of Cádiz, is from the Moslem epoch. According to history, Chipiona was conquered in 1251 by the king Fernando III “The Saint”, finally reconquered in 1261 by his son king Alfonso X “The Wise one”. It was rehabilitated in 1527, and later continuously attacked by Berbers and Moorish pirates.
In the 17th century it served as accommodation for the parish priests, and in the first years of the 18th century it became a local prison. In the 19th century (1893) it was used as headquarter for the “Guardia Civil”.
The Castle as Real Hostel For many years it was used as a fortress until it became a Hotel in 1890. It was Hotel Real until 1989, then closing because of problems among the associates, being abandoned and remaining in state of ruin until December 2000, when the Town Hall of Chipiona decided to be responsible of the building and its future rehabilitation.
Parish de la O Built in 1579, of the purest gothic style from the 16th century.
